KnowLeonCounty exists for one simple reason: important local information shouldn’t be hard to find.
A lot of the discussion, documents, and explanations about what’s happening in Leon County get shared through Facebook posts and comments. That works for some people — but it has real limits:
- It’s difficult to find older posts later.
- Information gets scattered across multiple threads and profiles.
- Not everyone uses Facebook (or wants to).
- Searching Facebook for a specific topic is frustrating at best.
This site is my attempt to put key information in one place, in a format that’s easier to read, link, and share.
What you’ll find here
Over time, this site will collect and organize:
- Explainer articles that break down confusing topics into plain English
(tax abatements, reinvestment zones, school funding, and more) - Links to public documents and agendas
- Timelines and summaries of what we know and when we learned it
- Ways for residents to find the right contacts and next steps (public info only)
What this site is not
This site is not meant to be a rumor mill.
If something is unconfirmed, I’ll try to label it clearly as unconfirmed. If you see something wrong, I want to fix it.
Help make it better
If you have:
- a public document link
- meeting notes
- corrections
- or a better source for something posted here
…reach out and I’ll do my best to include it and keep things accurate.
Why this matters
Leon County is a rural community. Decisions made now can shape our water, our schools, our roads, our property values, and our way of life for decades.
My goal is simple: make it easier for regular people to stay informed and participate.
